Restoring blood flow so wounds can heal and limbs can be saved.
Vascular treatment for the diabetic foot restores blood flow to the leg and foot so wounds can heal and the limb can be saved. At EDFC, circulation is carefully assessed and, where blockages are found, vascular procedures are coordinated with vascular specialists as part of a complete limb-salvage plan.
Why does blood flow matter in the diabetic foot?
Many people with diabetes develop peripheral arterial disease — narrowed or blocked leg arteries that starve the foot of blood. Without enough circulation, even small wounds will not heal and infection spreads quickly, raising the risk of amputation. Restoring blood flow is often the single most important step in saving a diabetic foot.
At EDFC, every wound and at-risk foot is checked for circulation as part of the diabetic foot assessment, using Doppler, ankle-brachial index, toe pressures and vascular scans.
What vascular treatment may be needed?
- Medical management of circulation and risk factors
- Endovascular procedures (angioplasty or stenting) to reopen arteries
- Open vascular (bypass) surgery for longer blockages
EDFC assesses the circulation, identifies the problem and coordinates the right vascular procedure with vascular surgeons and interventional specialists, then manages the wound and reconstruction once blood flow is restored. Note that improving blood flow is what helps arterial disease — compression is not a treatment for poor arterial circulation and can be harmful, which is why an accurate assessment always comes first.
Why choose EDFC for diabetic foot vascular care in India?
As India's first dedicated foot-care chain, EDFC brings vascular assessment, wound care and surgery together under one coordinated plan, led on the foot and wound side by Dr. Ashutosh Shah (M.S., M.Ch.) with 22+ years in limb salvage. This means your circulation, your wound and your foot are managed as one problem rather than passed between disconnected departments — with care available in Surat and Vizianagaram.
If your foot wound is not healing, book an assessment to check the circulation first.
