Pressure & Biomechanical Assessment

Foot Pressure Mapping Test in India
A foot pressure mapping test in India measures how your weight spreads across the sole as you stand and walk, highlighting the high-pressure zones where diabetic ulcers usually start. At EDFC, Dr. Ashutosh Shah's team uses it to design offloading custom insoles or footwear that protects those areas before skin breaks down.
What is a foot pressure mapping test?
Foot pressure mapping (also called plantar pressure analysis or pedobarography) uses a sensor platform or in-shoe sensors to record exactly where the most force lands under your foot. Combined with a gait check, it shows how foot shape, deformity, and walking pattern create repeated stress on certain spots.
This matters because in a foot that has lost sensation, that repeated pressure builds a callus and then an ulcer often without pain. Identifying and offloading these zones is one of the most effective ways to prevent recurrence. At EDFC India's first chain dedicated to foot care assessments are led by Dr. Ashutosh Shah (M.S., M.Ch.) in Surat (Gujarat) and Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh).
Who needs a biomechanical assessment?
- Recurring calluses, corns, or hard skin on the sole
- A past ulcer that healed and you want to prevent another
- Foot deformity — bunions, hammer toes, Charcot changes, flat or high arches
- Reduced sensation (neuropathy) in the feet
- Uneven shoe wear or a change in your walking pattern
When to see a doctor in India: if calluses keep returning to the same spot, get a pressure check before the skin breaks down. It pairs well with a neuropathy assessment.
What happens during the test
- Static scan — you stand on a pressure platform to map weight distribution at rest.
- Dynamic scan — you walk across the sensor to capture pressure in motion.
- Gait & structure review — foot shape, deformity, and walking pattern are assessed.
- Pressure map — high-risk zones are identified and explained.
- Offloading plan — custom insoles, footwear advice, or referral for therapeutic footwear.
Why choose EDFC in India
- Specialist-led by Dr. Ashutosh Shah (M.S., M.Ch.), 22+ years' experience.
- Dedicated foot care — India's first chain built only for foot and ulcer care.
- Two branches — Surat, Gujarat and Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.
- Recurrence-focused — offloading is key to stopping repeat ulcers.
