Autoimmune Vasculitis Ulcers
In autoimmune vasculitis, the body's own immune system inflames the small blood vessels of the skin, cutting off nourishment and punching painful ulcers, usually on the lower legs.
Autoimmune vasculitis ulcers occur when immune inflammation blocks the small vessels feeding the skin. Healing needs two things at once: controlling the immune attack with medicines and expert wound care for the skin.
What Are Autoimmune Vasculitis Ulcers?
Vasculitis means inflammation of blood vessels. When the immune system attacks the small vessels of the skin, patches of tissue lose their blood supply and break down into painful ulcers, often multiple and often on both legs. Unlike vein or pressure ulcers, these wounds are driven by an internal disease, not external pressure.
Vasculitis: immune-driven inflammation of blood vessel walls that narrows or blocks the vessel.
Clues That an Ulcer Is Vasculitic
- Purple or red spots and patches appearing before the ulcers
- Multiple painful ulcers with irregular, inflamed edges
- Joint pains, fever or fatigue alongside the wounds
- Poor response to ordinary dressings
How Does EDFC Treat Them?
Diagnosis comes first, through examination, blood tests and sometimes a small skin biopsy. Then treatment runs on two tracks: immune-controlling medicines prescribed with physician colleagues, and structured wound care that protects the skin while the inflammation settles. Treating only the wound, without the immune disease, fails.
Cost and Follow-Up in Surat
Costs depend on the tests and medicines needed, and EDFC explains them clearly at each step. Since vasculitis can flare again, scheduled reviews protect your healed skin. Book an assessment if you have painful leg ulcers with rashes or joint pains.
